New project...

Well, everyone... I have a new hobby... Humor writing. Here is a link to my first "story." For you faithful readers of my blog, you'll recognize it, but it's funny and you'll likely still get a big kick out of it. Please, when you read it though, click the "vote up" button at the bottom of the page. Thanks so much!

Our turn for vacation...

It seems like nearly everyone we know (or at least hang out with) have gone on some sort of week long vacation in the last month. Where were we? Well, with the exception of flying to my parents' house for Christmas, we have been here. Working. *sigh*

Don't get me wrong. I am very grateful that we have our jobs and for all the hours we have had lately, but MAN, I need a vacation. So, I booked Justin and I a week at our timeshare in Hawaii. On Maui. :)

We don't go until November, so we've got a nice chunk of time to plan for it, but I'm so excited!

On a side note, if you know of anyone (or if you yourself) that has photography slides or 35mm film that they would like turned into digital format, send them my way. I have recently started this and the cost is $12.50 per 50 slides or $7.50 per 6 strips of film. Also in the works is the possibility of digitalizing old home movies, you know the 8mm kind and such. Anyway, just have them give me a call! Thanks!

Ugh...

I have been sick for a week. Unfortunately, I have also been working 8 hour days all week. Yuck. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the extra hours... the timing couldn't be worse, though... And tomorrow is the ward Christmas party. Justin and I as supposed to sing, but I think it will end up me playing for him to sing. Also because I have been working, I haven't had any time (ok, maybe energy is a better word) to get all my Christmas stuff done. I've already ruined two batches of pecan log centers...

On an up note... Justin and I got to be in the Tuachan production of the Nativity. We were inn keepers. It was cool, but hard to be the ones that turned the Savior away. Oh well...

Hope your week is going better than mine!

Jen and Keith Come to Visit

We went wheeling, looking at houses, driving around, and to dinner. I think I made them hike to places Jen would never have gone had I not pushed her to. For those of you who don't know Jen, she is my best friend from high school. We always talk about visiting each other, but never seem to do it... until this year. We had a lot of fun visiting and watching Jazz games. I'm not sure that they were actually Jazz fans, but they were good sports about it and cheered for them anyway. So here are some pictures from our wheelin' adventure. I particularly love the one of Justin at the bottom on the edge of the cliff. Don't worry, there was no wind.

I probably ought not to admit this, but we had a ton of fun throwing rocks off the edge of the cliff and hearing their soft "crack" at the bottom... Next time, I'm totally bringing a golf club and golf ball...

The handsome man I married! :3 (and incidentally, I think this looks like the cover for an album... my very own rock star...)

Justin turns 30

Justin wasn't too thrilled about turning 30 this year. But it came and went without incident, so... Happy Birthday, sweetie. Don't worry. I don't think you're old...

Halloween...

Halloween this year was pretty fun. We went to a party at Shae's parents' house and then stayed home for trick-or-treaters the next Saturday night. We actually got quite a few trick-or-treaters! Of course, we had to entice them down the drive way since you can't actually see our door from the street. A strand of lights and two pillow case ghost later and we were in business!

Going to get fire wood

Our little friend in the grass. I nearly stepped on him once...
Caroline looking for the others.

I know you can't tell, but right after lunch, it was raining super hard.

It was a good thing we borrowed Kevin's chain saw. Dad's chainsaw had a broken oil cap, so Mom and I went looking all over Glendale for the owner of the Stihl repair shop. Luckily, we found him. On our way out to Glendale, a few ranchers were moving some cattle and asked us to slow down and wait so that we didn't spook the cows (any more than our diesel trucks did on the way in), so it took us nearly 15 minutes to get out of the canyon and back onto the road. An hour and a half later (or so) we finally made it back to the canyon only to have to follow a house half way out. Yes, I said a house! It was nuts! Mom took a picture, but I haven't swiped it from her yet. Needless to say, but the time we got back to the site, everyone was about to form a search party for us. It was definitely an adventure!
